Castello has remained one of the last Venetian districts where you can still experience the unique essence of living in Venice. The pace is slow and friendly. Everything you need is a short walk away. It has remained the greenest part of the city given its proximity to the gardens of Sant’Elena.

The majestic Via Garibaldi is the only actual “via” (street) in Venice given its width and length. Located at the beginning of Riva dei Sette Martiri, it represents an important crossroads of city life, especially from a commercial point of view: The street has always been a focal point of the city, and of the district of Castello especially.

Via Garibaldi is actually what is called a “rio terà.” Up until 1807 it was a canal that, by orders of Napoleon, was filled in to directly connect the San Pietro canal with the San Marco basin.
